This is not about the application which has cuter features, more bells, and whistles or is easier to use; it is all about privacy. And if you are all about privacy, then nothing can beat Signal.

Obviously, we all know what happened on January 7. Elon Musk tweeted about stopping using Whatsapp instead start using Signal. Twitter’s then CEO retweeted Elon Musk’s tweet. It was a perfect storm and since then the users of Signal and Telegram have got new users by tens of millions.

The collision also irradiated security and privacy analysis of messaging applications more widely. With the number of downloads differentiating, there are some common things as well! All of them are on the Play Store or App Store. The platform supports cross-platform messaging, also has group chat, offers multi-factor authentication, and can also be used to share images, videos, and even documents. Signal, Telegram, and Whatsapp use end-to-end encryption in some parts of their applications. This implies that if any third party seizes your texts, then they should be unreadable and confused. But the encryption part of Whatsapp is open-source, and we are being asked to trust Whatsapp more than Signal. The actual application of Whatsapp and even other manufacturing was also hacked, in a similar way Telegram was hacked.
