Telegram, the popular instant messaging has achieved a new landmark with its app having 200 million monthly active users. Pavel Durov, co-founder of Telegram, expressed his gratitude in a blog post to users for their loyalty. Telegram celebrated this achievement with the release of an update to the Android and iOS versions.
Telegram was the first messaging app to start end-to-end encryption and being the closest rival to WhatsApp, is still far behind – with WhatsApp having 1.5 billion Monthly Active Users, has more fantastic features than WhatsApp.

Durov in his words has stated that Telegram has never been sponsored by advertisers. He said:
“Unlike other popular apps, Telegram doesn’t have shareholders or advertisers to report to. We don’t do deals with marketers, data miners or government agencies.”
