Xiaomi recently got into trouble when a researcher found that Mi Browser on Xiaomi smartphones was collecting data, even in incognito mode. Xiaomi, however, clarified the situation later and even released a new update for the Mi browsers. Apart from this new update, there are a few other ways as well using which you can stop the Mi browser from collecting your browsing data.

1. Disable Content Feed

The first option is- disabling the content feed. You see a lot of content on the homepage of the browser, by disabling the feed, this content will disappear.

  1. Open Mi Browser and tap on the three dots menu and select Settings.
  2. In Settings, scroll to the Content Feed and disable the toggle.

2. Disable Personalized Services

You can also disable personalized services to show less content on the home screen.

  1. Open Mi Browser and tap on the three dots menu and select Settings.
  2. In Settings, scroll to the Personalized Services and disable the toggle.

3. Revoke Authorization

You can also revoke authorization to the Mi browser of your data.

  1. Open Mi Browser and tap on the three dots menu and select Settings.
  2. In Settings, scroll to the bottom and select Privacy and Security.
  3. Disable the Authorization toggle on this page.

However, after you disable this feature, the Mi Browser resets automatically. You need to set up it again. And this time, when you revoke the access, wait for some time and tap on revoke.

4. Enhanced Incognito Mode

To update your browser, go to Settings > System app updater, here you will find all the latest updates for the system apps. Tap the update button on the Mi Browser to update it and wait for it to install the update.

  1. Launch the updated Mi Browser on your smartphone and open Settings.
  2. Select Incognito mode from there.
  3. Turn off the Enhanced Incognito Mode from this page.

5. Make Other Browser Default

If it is still difficult for you to trust the Mi browser, you can use Google Chrome as your main browser.

  2. Now, tap on Manage Apps.
  3. On the next page, tap the three-dot menu and select Default Apps.
  4. Tap on Browser and select Google Chrome.

Your default browser will now be changed to Google Chrome. All links will now be opened in Google Chrome instead of Mi Browser.
