How to Add Vaccine Certificate Card to Phone

Gooogle’s Passes API lets third-party developers create boarding passes, loyalty cards, digital tickets, etc. that the user can save to Google Pay for easy access. Now, Google has updated its Passes API to enable a simple and secure way to store and access COVID vaccination and test cards on Android devices.vaccination certificate on phone.tdi_4.td-a-rec{text-align:center}.tdi_4 .td-element-style{z-index:-1}.tdi_4.td-a-rec-img{text-align:left}.tdi_4.td-a-rec-img img{margin:0 auto 0 0}@media(max-width:767px){.tdi_4.td-a-rec-img{text-align:center}}

All you need is an Android Phone running on Android 5.0 or above, which is Certified by Google Play Protect. You need not install the Google Pay app, as the API is handled by Google Play Services which is already installed on every Android phone. Government agencies, healthcare organizations, and public health authorities, authorized to distribute vaccines and conduct tests for COVID-19 will need to use Google’s Passes APIs to enable users with the digital version of vaccination and test certificates.

Steps to Store Vaccination Certifiate on Google Pay

Once your healthcare provider has implemented necessary changes at their end, you’ll be able to store your vaccination or testing details from the COVID Card. If you have a compatible phone, then whenever you try to download the certificate, you’ll see a Save to Phone option on the app/website of the healthcare provider.

After tapping the option, it will prompt you to save the details either with Chrome or Google Pay app. You need to choose Google Pay, to save the COVID card on your Android device.

Once the card is saved on your device, you can look for it by heading to Settings > Google > Account services > Google Pay. You can add a shortcut to the card as well. If you have the Google Pay app, then you can go to Google Pay app or Account services > Google Pay > swipe up to open the digital “passport.”

You will need a lock screen on your app in order to store a COVID Card on your phone. This is for added security and to protect the user’s personal information. In order to access the card, you need to enter the pin, password, or biometric which has been set up.

To make sure your personal data is safe, Google will not be sharing any such info with its services and third parties. All the data will be there on your device. Google will not be keeping any copy of the user’s COVID vaccination or test information.

As of now, the feature is only available in the US but Google will roll out to other countries soon. So Android users (iOS availability not confirmed yet) all over the world can enjoy the benefit of carrying their vaccination certificate on phone and show it at the required places whenever asked.
