Birla Mandir, a gleaming white building that adorns the skyline of modern Hyderabad, is located near the southern end of Hussain Sagar Lake. It is located atop Kala Pahad, a twin hillock to Naubat Pahad. And The temple was built by the Birlas in 1976 with white marble sourced from Rajasthan. On a 13-acre area, the hillock stands at 280 feet.

The illumination of Birla Mandir in the evening creates a stunning spectacle. For the past three decades, tourists have regarded a journey to Hyderabad is incomplete without visiting Birla Mandir. A trip to the lovely Birla Mandir is one to remember, as it combines superb design and craftsmanship with a place of tranquility and spirituality.

On weekdays and weekends, the temple is open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. Because of its central location, the Birla Mandir is well-served by state government buses. Those on the bus can get off near Ravindra Bharathi, around 200 meters away.

Birla Mandir History

Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission consecrated the temple in the same year, after nearly a decade of construction. Birla Mandir in Hyderabad is also patronized by the Birla Foundation, which is notable for building similar temples around the country.

The temple is devoted to Sri Venkateswara, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. In the morning, the kirtanas of Tyagaraja, Annamayya, and Ramadasu can be heard resonating against the backdrop of a blue sky. And The temple incorporates both Utkal (Oriya) and South Indian architectural traditions.

The Rajagopuram is a South Indian architectural style, whereas the Jagadananda Vimanam, the tower over the main shrine, is an Oriyan style. Finely sculpted marbled images depicting the great epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata can also be found throughout the shrine.

Also The sanctum sanctorum (garbha gudi), which stands 42 feet tall, is a stunning duplicate of Tirumala’s Venkateshwara temple.
