The new Windows 11 offers a sleek design with a revamped interface. At the same time, it also carries forward certain traits from the previous-gen Windows 10, like the dark mode. By default, it boots with the light theme, but if you want things to go black, you can always switch to the dark theme options. Here’s how you can enable or disable dark mode on Windows 11.

The dark mode looks good and helps reduce strain on the eyes, especially during the night. On Windows 11, you can turn on the dark mode by either switching to dark colors or selecting one of the dark-based themes. Both the methods are detailed below.

Method 1- Switch to Dark Color

Like Windows 10, you can switch to Dark colors on Windows 11 directly through the settings, as follows:

1. Open the Start menu and select Settings.

Enable Dark Mode on Windows 11

2. Here, select Personalization from the sidebar at the left.

3. Click on Colors.

4. Tap the drop-down menu next to Choose your color and select Dark.

The dark mode will be instantly enabled on your Windows 11 computer.

Then, select whether you want ‘Transparency Effects’ or not. Turning them off will make the taskbar black. You can also choose your desired accent color and choose whether to show the same in the Start menu and taskbar.

Method 2- Select a Dark Theme

Windows 11 comes with several preset themes to choose from. Some of these themes bring in the dark interface. So, if you want to use dark mode on Windows 11, the other way is to switch to dark-based themes.

1. Open the Start menu and select Settings.

2. Here, select Personalization from the sidebar at the left.

3. Here, select the Windows (dark) theme. You can also select Glow or Captured Motion themes- they too use dark colors.

As you tap the theme, it’ll be applied to your computer. You’ll get your desired look from these themes alongside a system-wide dark interface.
